Weddings

The love between you and your partner is sacred, and it would be my deepest joy to create a wedding service with you that reflects that holiness.

I love working with couples, especially those who don't attend church,* to learn what words you use to speak about the Divine and what your values are, and to create a wedding that fits your love.

This works best if we spend some time together first, usually about four coffee dates, to talk about how you fell in love, what each of you values about each other, the values and spiritual lives each of you hold separately, and how they'll fit together.

Sometimes couples and I create very traditional weddings: I have religious resources from my tradition and others to help you do this.  Other times we write a service from scratch.  We can create a list of words you both like, a list of words to avoid, and find resources together.

It is a great honor to marry feminist couples, same-sex couples, secular couples, interfaith couples, spiritual-but-not-religious couples, and even very traditional couples!

*I'm going to ask you if you have a faith community you worship with, even a little bit, or a pastor who you have even a little connection with, and I hope you tell me the truth.  If you do have a worshiping community or a pastor, I'm going to refer you back to them.  To do otherwise would be robbing you of a chance to connect with them more deeply.  If there are special circumstances -for example, your pastor is Methodist and unable to preside over a same-sex wedding- you can have your pastor contact me about how we might be able to support you together.
